City of Peoria, Arizona Standardizes Capital Projects
and Programs on Skire Unifier
System Plays Key Role in Ten-Year, $1 Billion Capital Improvement Plan
MENLO PARK, CA, September 4, 2007 - Skire, Inc. (www.skire.com), the leading provider of capital program, integrated workplace, and project portfolio management software, today announced that the City of Peoria, Arizona has implemented Unifier™ and standardized its capital project and program management processes. Peoria is using Skire Unifier for comprehensive project management, reporting, and funding tracking across five city departments in support of its ten-year, $1 billion capital improvement plan. The deployment further strengthens Skire’s presence in the municipal government market segment, where innovative municipalities are seeking to improve capital project management and maximize the use of taxpayer dollars.
The City of Peoria conducted an extensive solicitation for proposals during its search for a system to support its capital projects and chose Skire Unifier primarily for its reporting, cost management, and workflow functionality. Approximately 150 people use the system from the city’s public works, utilities, engineering, community services, and budget departments. The city also is providing external partners, such as engineering firms, architects, and contractors, with access to project information through Unifier. The new system has significantly improved timeliness and accuracy of project information for budgeting and executive reporting. Peoria’s IT department is also evaluating Unifier for managing its portfolio of IT projects.
“Having a central repository for all relevant project information makes it much easier for everyone to find information that they need,” said Herman Koebergen, materials manager for the City of Peoria. “Unifier also allows us to track multiple funding sources with tremendous flexibility. We can easily connect multiple projects into a program, track multiple funding sources down to the task level, and significantly simplify cost management with consistent data. As a custodian of taxpayer money, we seek to work as efficiently and effectively as possible, and Skire Unifier is helping us do that.”
Peoria frequently must manage multiple sources of funding for a range of projects where several departments are involved. These projects involve efforts from engineering, utilities, and budget departments, and the new Unifier system has simplified funding tracking while strengthening collaboration among them. Plans call for using the Unifier system to provide Peoria citizens with current project information and timelines. Peoria’s goal is to help the community stay informed about city projects, while helping free staff from high volumes of project-related telephone calls.
“We are pleased to be chosen by the City of Peoria and to be working with a municipality that is taking such a significant step forward in project management efficiency,” said Sateez Kadivar, Skire’s vice president of operations. “We are delighted to work with Peoria’s team moving forward.”
